Outlook allows you to request two types of confirmations to ensure your message has been delivered or read:
- Delivery receipt: confirms the message was delivered to the recipient's inbox.
- Read receipt: confirms the recipient has opened the message.
Please note
The recipient can decline to send a read receipt, so it is not guaranteed.
How to request a receipt
- Open the message you’re composing and go to the Options tab.
- Under the Tracking group, select Request a Delivery Receipt and/or Request a Read Receipt.
How receipts appear
When the recipient opens or receives the message, a receipt will appear in your inbox with the following icon:
